Well it has been quite a while since I actually sat down to write anything on my blog. It seems as if it has taken a back seat to everything else. I have sort of neglected my blog and my readers, and for this I really do apologize.
A lot has taken place since my last post and well quite frankly, it has not been exciting or newsworthy enough to share, that is until now, hence the title of this post.
I have been working for AAFES, which stands for Army and Air Force Exchange Service, in one of their Shoppettes, which is like a convenience store for military personnel. I love the work and it makes me feel good to be able to assist our men and women in uniform who are working to keep our freedom in tact.
I like to walk to work sometimes for several reasons, it saves on gas which I do not own a car anyway, gives me the exercise that I need to stay healthy and it is only a little over 2 miles one way.
While walking to work last Wednesday morning, I was only 2 blocks from my work when all of a sudden I was struck by a car from behind. I felt the impact, but then all of a sudden it all went black momentarily and very quiet, and it was as if it was all in slow motion.
Well all in all, as to not go into all the details, I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, they ran all kinds of x-rays and cat scan, and to the wonderment of them all, nothing was broken, fractured or split. I was told by the doctor that I was a very lucky lady. Yep, I guess he’s right, but I am so sore and bruised on my left side, it looks like I tangled with something. Well I reckon I did, a bloody car to be exact.
I am now in a pickle, because I have no insurance, not a lot of income nor money. The bills are about to start to roll in for this and I am not looking forward to seeing them.
Just today in the mail I receive a letter from the hospital asking if I want to apply for assistance, well sure, but the things they are asking for, I am not prepared to submit. My feeling at this point is, I will be happy to pay the bills, but it is not going to be an instant thing. I am going to need to pay what I can as I can, but I am not sure that is going to satisfy them, only time will tell.
I am just happy to be alive and to know that I came out of this without anything being broken, cracked or fractured or yet even worse, deceased. Bruises I can handle, they will take time to heal and I am already on that path.
Now I just have to concentrate on getting the bills paid. It all boils down to where there’s a will there’s a way.
UPDATE: I received another letter from a Health Management Inc, so now at least I have a general idea of how much the hospital portion is going to be. Just the hospital portion is $2,877.68 and I am sure this does not cover the ambulance portion, so who knows how much that is going to be..Just have to wait and see what happens.
I still have to do a follow-up and if the MP’s charged the driver, then the bills are going directly to her insurance company.
